For the past several years Samsung has relied on a two chipset approach for its Galaxy S-series – its in-house Exynos SoCs in regions like Europe and Asia and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chips elsewhere. The disparities in performance between the two chipsets naturally created rifts in consumers and Samsung may finally put an end to that practice.
Noted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes Qualcomm will be the sole chipset provider for the Galaxy S23 series with the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (SM-8550) powering all S23 units worldwide.
Kuo believes Samsung is not confident in the performance of its upcoming Exynos 2300 chip when compared to Qualcomm’s next flagship in terms of computing power and power efficiency. There’s still a long way to go before we reach the Galaxy S23 series unveiling so more information will surely surface.
